Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day 2009
Palace Group hosted another twenty learners in its second year of participating in the Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day on the 28th May 2009. The learners where from Grade's 10, 11 and 12 at Thomas- Mofolo High School in Naledi, Soweto. The learners, educators and hosts were quite enthused to be part of this experience, the objective of which was to expose girl learners to the various employment opportunities that are available to them as they prepare towards tertiary education.
Palace Group's involvement and activities on the day
Palace Group supports and encourages initiatives that empower previously disadvantaged individuals, particularly women and children, and none could be more fitting than the opportunity to educate and motivate young girls into choosing their career paths with more knowledge. As with the theme for this year's event, Choice Empowers, the leaners were introduced to the various career opportunities that are available in infrastructure development, engineering, energy management and corporate services.
Palace Group's subsidiary company, Grinpal Energy Management took a key role in educating the learners about the vast opportunities available within this sector. The girls were also taken on a tour of the company offices where one of their key products, smart meters, are being produced.
Also as part of the day activities, the learners were given an opportunity to meet a representative from WITS University who gave them information relating to tertiary enrolment.
With the second year of participation having been successful, Palace Group looks forward to welcoming more young and enthusiastic minds at the next event.
