Palace Super Falcons take second spot in Sasol league

PSF Sasol Gauteng League Runner up

The incredible performance of the past season ended in the Palace Group sponsored women soccer semi-professional team, Palace Super Falcons, as runner-up. Piped to the crown by another impressive side, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (FC), the team played their usual best football only to lose through highly contested matches.

The fifth edition of South Africa's premier women's football league finals, the Sasol League National Championships, takes place in Klerksdorp from Monday, 25th November 2013 - Sunday, 01st December 2013.

For the first time since Sasol launched this sponsorship of course, our very own Palace Super Falcons, defending champions, are missing out. "It has been a tough year and especially the last few weeks as the league was drawing to a close. I am very proud of the ladies nonetheless," said Technical Director, Steyn "Bra Bob" Maredi.

In the past three years, the team has raised the bar in as far as ladies' soccer is concerned. Defending the national championship in 2012 remains the biggest achievement to date for this Midrand based outfit.

"I am extremely proud of our girls, I cannot even begin to describe our pride as a Group in having played some role in nurturing this talent in the last decade," stated Zanele Mlambo, Strategic Communications Executive at Palace Group. "No doubt the players are devastated but I believe they have every reason to remain upbeat as they lost still fighting for the crown," she adds.

Rewarding excellence

Palace Group rewards the team every year for their performance and this year is no different.
