Kgadi Mokoma, nicknamed Gautrain, opened the scoreline in the 6th minute of the game, following it up with her second goal in the 33rd minute. Taking advantage of the porous defense of the opposition, Mokoma punished the Brazilians with her third goal 2 minutes before half time.

The second half of the game seemed to be one-sided as Falcons continued their onslaught on the Brazilians, with Mokoma’s fourth goal blasting through in the 68th minute, followed by a shot from Lindiwe Motau in the 73rd minute and the sixth goal from Zandile Mxasa’s five minutes later to finish off in style.

The Palace Group sponsored team played six matches at the national championships, scoring 31 goals without conceding. Falcons started their defending championship campaign by beating the host team, Bloemfontein Celtics, with a goal to nil. They continued by beating Hallelujah Zebra Forces 2 goals to nil and Brazilian Ladies with 3 goals to nil, thrashing the Royal Wizard Ladies with a whooping 13 goals to nil and finally Detroit Ladies with 6 goals to nil to book their place in the finals.

“It’s been a tough Sasol League season, but the fact that Palace Super Falcons could take on the best teams in SA and score 31 goals in six matches without conceding a single goal, is indicative of our player’s commitment and dedication shown over the past season,” said Jabu Mabaso, Falcons Head Coach who was also named as Coach of the Tournament.

Other accolades went to Kgadi Mokoma, as the Top Goal Scorer of the Tournament with 11 goals whilst Tina Selepe walked away with Diski Queen of the Tournament.

Palace Group is very proud of the players and the technical team and wishes to congratulate them on this enormous achievement.
