Palace Group Part of Sponsors of the 61 st AMEU Convention

The Association of Municipal Electricity Undertakings which is better known as (AMEU) of which Palace Group is an affiliate member, held its annual convention in Buffalo City East London from 27 October to 29 October 2008.

The convention is set out to achieve and fulfill the objectives of the AMEU which include; promoting quality of service of electricity supply; facilitate communication and liaison between all members in the technical; political and economic environment; provide advisory service to members and customers and organise conferences and workshops creating forums to promote technical excellence in the electrical industry.

Themed "The Role of the AMEU in the energy crisis" and covering sub-themes including; Co-Generation; Energy Efficiency; Renewable Energy amongst many other related topics, the convention allowed Palace Group to promote its services and create awareness for the company at large through sponsorships and the opportunity to exhibit.

Palace's Role at the Convention

Palace Group was amongst other prominent companies like Eskom; Alstom and many others who were either sponsoring or exhibiting at the function. The company sponsored a special prize for the main dinner hosted on the 28 th October and also paid for the tea session on the last day of the Convention.

While the Business Development Division of the Group undertook the task of ensuring that the services of the company were promoted, the Strategic Communications & Corporate Image Division worked on further improving and enhancing Palace Group's image as well creating awareness for the company.

The Gala Dinner

Palace attended the gala dinner on Tuesday 28 October at the BKB Building in Buffalo City East London to mingle, promote the company as well as to present a lucky winner with a top-of the range cam cord (and Palace corporate stationery).

The company's Group Executive Zanele Mlambo presented this award. Prior to this the exquisitely dressed Zanele was selected (by the

audience) to present the Kruger Rand Draw which was sponsored by CBI Electric (manufacturer of electrical distribution and protection components for low voltage electrical distribution systems.) Other lucky draw prizes which were up for grabs included lap top bags and clocks.

The guests were predominantly male with a handful of ladies who were all well dressed for the masked ball themed event. The ambiance set the mood for the event, from the chandelier lights to the divine set-up tables; the lively and enthusiastic guests and not forgetting the mouth-watering three course meal.

It was also refreshing and pleasantly surprising to witness the female president Mrs Sy Gourrah being recognised for the phenomenal job she did in organising the convention from beginning till the end.

The promise made by AMEU was fulfilled as we "Partied the night away into the Buffalo City sunrise"
All we can do now is sit back and wait for the 62 nd AMEU Convention and the great opportunities which will come our way.
