Palace Super Falcons crowned champions of Gauteng yet again

Braving the cold weather on 25th May at the University of Johannesburg sports ground, Palace Super Falcons defended their Gauteng Provincial Championship title for the fourth time in a row.

The encounter against UJ ended with a hard earned goal from Mamello Makhabane in the second half of the match.

This season was quite closely contested by other teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in 2nd position as well as Croesus Ladies from Actonville in 3rd position. Competition is closing in on the champions with only 7 points between them and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Palace Group sponsored team, did well to gain their well deserved victory having scored a total of 145 goals this season and conceding 17 in their 30 fixtures of the season. The team also won 27 of these fixtures and drew 3 with no loss. Congratulations are extended to the top goal scorer of Falcons and key Banyana Banyana player, Kgadi Mokoma with 28 goals in total. Accolades must also be given to Refilwe Koloba for an impressive defense performance this season as well as Falcon's number one keeper, Bridgette Molale.

Palace Group, as owner and sponsor of the team, is very impressed at the consistent performance of the team throughout the years and wishes to congratulate the players and the technical team for a job well done.

All roads now lead to the Sasol national playoffs which will be held in Bloemfontein from the 19th to 25th June 2011. Palace Super Falcons, as the defending champions, will have the work cut out for them as they meet the likes of Cape Town Roses, Ma-Indies, Bloemfontein Celtics as well as the previous national champions- Detroit Ladies. Palace Group wishes the team good luck with the upcoming national playoffs and has confidence that the trophy will return to Gauteng.
