Project Overview Palace Group, together with Grinpal Energy Management (Pty) Ltd (a wholly owned Palace Group subsidiary), have invested financial and human resources towards the establishment of an income generating project to benefit parents and guardians of the Alexandra Child Care and Support Centre (ACCSC). Grinpal's commitment to this project is true to the Group's principles of corporate social investment, as the company has a long established rapport within the Alexandra community through its revolutionary smart metering technology. As part of the Alexandra Renewal Project, Grinpal was awarded a contract to install smart meters in Alexandra, which has been recently renewed. The establishment of an income generating project for the ACCSC aims to reduce the centre's dependency on grants and donations from government, funding agencies and the private sector, which are often inadequate to provide for the medium and long term needs of the centre. After much research and stakeholder engagement sessions, tthe consensus reached was setting up a bakery for the purpose of this project. Funding the Project Funding for this project was initially raised from a corporate fundraising event hosted by Palace Group. The event managed to raise R40,000.00. In addition to these funds, the Chairman of Palace Group, had pledged to match whatever amount was raised, increasing the proceeds to R80,000.00. Grinpal made available funds for the stakeholder engagement process spending over R80,000.00. in getting the project off the ground, more than an additional R100,000.00 will be used for the purchase of equipment, accessories and training of the participants.
